Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do
We do “light contact sparring” at our school.
That means that we are going to be able to go
to school / work tomorrow and not be hurting…too
bad. It is basically going fast, but playing
tag. Mr. Brown’s dojang / school has plenty
of water-filled bags, and heavy bags, for full
contact bag work.
In the Chung Do Kwan System, we have 24 patterns,
or forms, that students must learn to progress
through the belt ranks. Mr. Brown has added a
few more basic patterns from the Shotokan System,
that simplifies the movements for beginners.
As our students progress through the belt ranks,
they start to work on weaponry. Weapons are
used in martial arts as training aids.
Martial arts work both sides of the body, and
therefore both sides of the brain, having deep
implications for educational learning and brain
development in human beings! As young
children study the martial arts, and have worked
both sides of their body/brain, Mr. Brown is
positive these young children will be better
students as they enter the middle level and high
school level of education.
Add-in the American wrestling / grappling
techniques from Mr. Brown’s history as a wrestling
coach and this gives one the complete package for
an outstanding system of self-defense!
Haragei Ryu Jukido
In this system of self-defense, students will learn how to do Judo breakfalls, and progress into the smoother “rolling” of Jukido. One learns how to do forward, backward, and diving rolls, that can save you from difficult situations!
